International dance teacher Patricia Paul made Christchurch her home 20 years ago and has established four successful dance schools.
Patricia, as a child, trained with the Royal Academy of Dancing in Bristol and then went on to London where she spent 2 years with the prestigious Ballet Rambert.
As a teacher Patricia has taught and choreographed ballet, contemporary dance and jazz for the American festival ballet, the Athens Ballet Theatre, The Paula Caputo Ballet School, The ballet school in Bath, England and Studio C in Los Angeles, where many of her students went on to dance for several celebrities, such as Tiffany, Paula Abdul, and Debbie Allen.
Locally the Patricia Paul School of Dance has been providing excellence in dance education in Christchurch for 20 years.
There are six locations in the Christchurch area: Harewood, Thorrington, Fendalton, Marshland, Huntsbury and New Brighton.
The schools goal is to be more than just a dance school. They are passionate about educating students mentally as well as physically, to build self esteem and confidence through dance!
The school has had many successful students who have gone on to careers in dance and theatre including Kase Craig who is currently with the prestigious L'Opera de Bordeaux in France, Marysa Dalton
ex RNZB, Sacha Copeland a contemporary dancer
and choreographer with her own dance company "Java"and a guest teacher at the
Wellington School of Dance. And Hayley Westenra, our very own International singing star.
Tuition starts with children from three years of age with pre-school ballet designed to nurture
a child's interest in movement and expression. Jazz, stage musical, contemporary and hip hop are all other styles of dance we offer to extend their dance skills. Piano lessons are also available from age six to develop musical awareness.
